The Leander Old Town Christmas Festival is held on the 1st Saturday of December. This year it was December 3, 2016. The event is organized by the Leander Chamber of Commerce . The location is on W. South Street at N. Brushy Street between the City of Leander offices and the Leander ISD offices. The streets are closed to most vehicular traffic for the event. The weather was forecast to be cold with rain for the entire weekend but the event went on as scheduled. Unfortunately the weather forecast was correct and it was cold and there was a constant light rain with plenty of mud. A large tent was erected on the grassy/muddy area for some of the vendors and tarps were put down to walk on but they collected water even in the tent. Two outdoor fire pits provided some warmth for the attendees. There were about 25 vendors of various types including food vendors. $4 food tokens were being offered by the Chamber of Commerce. We didn't sample any of the food since it was cold and raining. We left to go eat in a warm place and then returned for the 5pm parade. We were going to stay for the lighting of the huge Christmas tree which was set up on the new stage, but the wind picked up and now it was not just cold, raining, and muddy, but dark and windy as well. Other activities included Old Town Rudolph Run and a carousel for the kids. Tomzap did not play for this event but I understand there was a choir.
