I hope that it goes on and on and on and on........by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
I worry about my Mexican Citizenship. As tenuous as it is, the Mexican government, if royally pissed off by the terms of the wall, could easily void the citizenship of all naturalized citizens from the US. It would be just another one of the laws/rules on how our Mexican citizenship can be revoked.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
Last month I took a flight from Bangkok to Hanoi on JetStar airlines. As we were waiting to take off the pilot announced that we were flight bla bla bla going to Hanoi. At that time I thought to my self, "I recognize that accent", then he said that his name was Jesus Hernandez, from Mexico. I thought, "wow", an Australian airline, going from Thailand to Vietnam with a Mexicanby bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
Would you please explain why you think that this is the end of the battle. Do you really think that there can be no more appeals? Rodenas Corp. has lots of money to continue, I'm sure Land cases have taken generations to settle in the past.by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
Twenty six years ago today I kicked my addiction to tobacco while in Mexico City. The addiction never had any good effects for me, it was only a way to transfer some of my money to the hands of some multimillionaires in North Carolina. Apparently there was some bad blood between some people in North Carolina and France in those days. When the French found out how I had put the screws to the Nby bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
But, Elizabeth II is the sovereign of Canada, you know, the lady on the twenty dollar bill.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
Scott, I've always thought that a copy and paste into a new post with all their information would put the brakes on that kind of behavior. After all, if they are so proud to send it to you, they should be proud to have it shared with all. No doubt the post would be moved to "off topic", but it would be there for awhile.by bill gilbert - Test Forum

If you were to eliminate all the laws in the world, then no one could break a law and therefore we could not have any criminals.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
That's the one Buzz. I was going to add later that I was there to visit a friend. But then it was moved and I knew that no one would read that addition to the story. So now, thanks to the censor, people think that I am an ex con.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
Well, this should last here for no more than one day when it will be sent to thread hell. My thread the other day about the Acapulco jail was sent out of here and it was an actual happening here in this country. It was about Mexicans in Mexico and an old Mexican custom, based on facts and news reports. So, this doesn't have a chance. If it is still here tomorrow, I'll report it. Federal Police went to the Acapulco prison (Cereso) this morning to transfer 60 prisoners to maximum security facilities. While there they confiscated two sacks of marijuana, 100 fighting cocks, 2 peacocks, and 19 working ladies who were found in different cells. Plus 6 lady prisoners living in the men's section of the prison. Reminds me of the time I was in the Tijuana jail in the 60s.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum

People can spend many years in jail before their trial comes up.by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
I first became aware of travel alerts from the US Embassy in Mexico City in the 90s concerning (according to them) problem areas in Mexico. So, these travel alerts are really nothing new. When I worked in southern Mexico it seemed that every road that I used was on "the list". I never knew what to make of the alerts - I still don't. I just ignored them. I have concluded that theseby bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
Sorry, but the Mexican Constitution does NOT state that "no Foreign Citizen may own land." But there are some prohibited zones. Is that what you mean?by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
In the last year or two there was a Chinese-Mexican guy whose house was discovered to have many millions of dollars, pesos etc. in cash in large bundles all around the house. There was another up north in Sinaloa whose house and other buildings had many, many millions of dollars also stashed around the place. And, as you say, in real estate.by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
They should allow the narcos to invest all that money they are bringing down from the druggies up north. It would help the country a whole lot more than storing it in black trash bags in unused bedrooms and garages.by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
Scott, Mr. Villalobos needed them exactly when there were no problems to be dealt with by the police here in Jalisco. So it was easy to take them from pointless jobs and put them to work where they were desperately needed.by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
In case you are wondering about Herod's Law (mentioned above). It was a wonderful Mexican movie (La Ley de Herodes), made in 2000, more or less. A political satire. La Ley de Herodes, can be taken to mean: screw your neighbor before he can screw you.by bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
There was a time when some land in Villa Obregon that was part of the Jaluco Ejido (as I remember) received deeds. Then the deeds were reportedly invalidated. I believe that the piece of land in front of El Pollo Melaque was/is a part of that dispute. There are signs that say it is part of the Jaluco Ejido and also that say it is private land. I'm sure someone else on this board could tellby bill gilbert - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas

It's been interesting over the years since NAFTA was passed. I have never met a Mexican that wasn't sure that Mexico was shafted with the agreement. Likewise, every Canadian knows that Canada was completely screwed over by the deal. Most Americans are sure that it was the worst thing ever entered into by the US. Did everyone lose?by bill gilbert - Off-Topic Forum
