Mort, I cant speak to the situation in Canada, but you have nailed what has happened here in Mexico as well as anyone could. I congratulate you for being factual -- not emotional or political -- about this health crises.by JaliscienseFede - Off-Topic Forum

I want to apologize to the 50% of Americans who voted for Trump (I didn't) for inappropriate political comments here by persons who don't have the common sense of a two-day old taco. As I've said in the past, this type of "person" has the right to make a fool of himself/herself with his/her offensive, ignorant comments. And I have the right to comment on his/her rudenesby JaliscienseFede - Off-Topic Forum

Kip Wylie I just heard on TV yesterday that (in a recent study) Canadians are the seventh happiest people in the World -- with Finland #1 and Norway #2. So, as you suggest, life can't be so bad there.by JaliscienseFede - Off-Topic Forum
The local schools start back on Monday, and that means that the quiet time in this area is starting again, since most Mexican families won't travel without the kids. For me, traffic and parking are never much of an issue in Barra de Navidad, so it simply means shorter lines at OXXO. However, to many of the madres solteras here (the most passionate mothers that I know), it's a time ofby JaliscienseFede - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas

I know that there are frames shops in this area (Barra de Navidad), but I am looking for one that makes very heavy custom frames of hard tropical woods (no pine). I assume that I'll have to go to Manzanillo or Colima. Does anyone know of someone who does this? I can't use my carpenter, because he doesn't know how to prepare the glass cover, and he might ruin the art. I'm talkiby JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala

If you want to make the transfer of your real property to your heirs as easy as possible in Mexico, use a trust. Consult an attorney, and he or she will specifically tell you why the trust is actually a good way to avoid hassles when you pass on. Be sure to have a Mexican will which makes reference to your will in Canada or the United States for all personal property that is outside the trust -by JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala
...for the month of September, and maybe October. I will be alone or with my girlfriend, so I don't need much room, but I'd like something nice, secure and within walking distance of the Zocalo. I also speak Spanish and my girlfriend only speaks Spanish, so there is no problem getting around. I hope that the weather is dry in Oaxaca in September, because I'd like to escape tby JaliscienseFede - City of Oaxaca
I'm looking for someone who can design a combination of storage cabinets, sitting area, and climate controlled display cases. I have some photos of some similar things from the Internet, but I need those modified to fit in with the style of my other wooden furniture. I would like to find someone who can make a rendering of what it will look like, and then my carpenter can fill in the dimensiby JaliscienseFede - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas

I swim at Tenacatita at least once a month, and sometimes every Saturday or Sunday. I was there yesterday. It's always a very good walking beach, and almost always a great swimming beach. However, I've gone through six foot surf there (very rarely and only in the summer), and I've seen giant manta rays -- not dangerous if you don't surprise them. I lived in PV more than six years. A 200 peso roadside "tip" would have settled this. When I still had US plates, I was stopped seven times in PV. (I drive like a Mexican, and was doing something illegal each time.) The police were always courteous, and non threatening. In my opinion it's foolish to waste your time taking the ticket. For me, a stop is a twenty minute distractby JaliscienseFede - Puerto Vallarta
I want to move a few small pieces of furniture from PV to Barra de Navidad, and I wonder where I can find a small to medium size pickup truck (or, if reasonably priced, a small truck with an enclosed bed). I have driven this route more than a dozen times in the last year, and know it very well. I just got back from there on Sunday, and will go back on Thursday. Thank you. I found a beautiful German Shepherd puppy in Colima. She is eight weeks old now, and has been with me for a week.by JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala
I've been searching the web (most are available in Mexico City & Guadalajara), contacting animal shelters, contacting veterinarians, etc. I've been seriously looking. One veterinarian told that they are not in favor in Mexico because of their space requirements and higher maintenance costs. I know that they do well in the tropics, because they were successfully used in the Vietby JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala
I am looking for a company that sells and installs high quality sound systems for home entertainment centers. I'm looking for a system that runs everything through an amplifier/receiver. I need more than just a store that sells the components.by JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala

If you want to understand the culture, you must speak Spanish. I know the coast very well between PV and Manzanillo, and the only places that I can think of that are not already overrun by English speakers (greatly affecting the culture) are those located at the southern part of Bahia de Santiago, just before the peninsula that separates it from the commercial harbor of Manzanillo. This is a verby JaliscienseFede - Puerto Vallarta
I was in Cima last week. Although they have a showroom, they are really mostly a supplier to hotels and other commercial operations. Their prices were substantially higher than the prices at the two Rettan of Guadalajara stores and the Rettan of Puerto Vallarta store -- all located in PV.by JaliscienseFede - Colima - Comala
