Fresh eruptions from the Colima volcano in Mexico have forced the evacuation of hundreds of people from their homes. Ash and thick black smoke rose from the volcano, 430 miles (690km) north-west of Mexico City. A flow of lava could be seen pouring down its slopes. More than 350 villagers living in La Yerbabuena and La Becerrera at the foot of the mountain were moved to safety, emergency oby manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala
Just to clarify; I would be picking up and returning the vehicle to GDL. Thanks for the tips.by manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala
I am considering the advantages of flying into GDL and driving a rental car to Comala (where I will possibly be staying). Has anyone had good or bad experiences with doing this that they would like to share? Also, recommendations re: which rental car vendor to use (or avoid) -- or any scams to be aware of? What about the driving route -- any comments/suggestions?by manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala
No -- you computer can not be hacked if you have the batteries out of your laptop and disconnected from the internet provider. I consider mine to me safe if I have simply disconnected it from the Internet -- I only connect when I need to go on line. I also use a good fire wall and anti virus (ZoneAlarm Pron Antivirus & Firewall 2016) -- for when I am connected.by manzanillo2011 - Puerto Vallarta
A few days ago I received this email message from the Tenacatita Fund. This is great news: Hola Amigos de Tenacatita, With a campaign promise the governor of Jalisco sent in his troops today to liberate Tenacatita beaches and provide free access and open camping. The state police remain to ensure the safety of citizens and tourists. The last three years have provided proof of allegations agby manzanillo2011 - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas

Very entertaining -- reading the above almost makes me feel grateful for today's freezing rain forecast and tomorrow’s necessity of reporting to the office for my wage slavery.by manzanillo2011 - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
When I was there we drove to La Yebabuena where a guide book said there was good volcano view. La Yebabuena is located East of Suchitlán. It is a ghost town as all it residents were re-located by the governemnt due to its dangerous proxmity to the volcano (my information is from the guide book). Once we reached the town a English speaking resident (squatter?) gave us directions to a road out oby manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala
Is this true? Yesterday, there was a posting to the Volcano Discovery web-site which is reporting that there has been recent lava flow activity on Colima volcano. There is a photo also appearing to show fire streaming down the mountain. Is the lava stream visible from Comala city proper?by manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala

Can anyone tell me about the shrine in the attached photo. I took the photo in Quesería during a recent visit and am writing a travelogue about the area. Information about the name, purpose and history would be appreciated. Anything else you would like to add would also be good.by manzanillo2011 - Colima - Comala
On Jan 9 when we visited the guards were still there. We were instructed to drive into that chain-link fence box which blocks the beach road, after which the gates were closed and we were instructed to exit our vehicle. We were watched by a shot-gun toting guard while it was searched . They kept the license of our driver and instructed we could enter and drive to the beach but must park only oby manzanillo2011 - La Manzanilla - Tenacatita - Boca de Iguanas
