On April 29, 2003, the first two cruise ships docked at the newly completed Muelle Santa Cruz. The two ships, the Veendam and the Zaandam shown above and at left, are operated by the Holland America line. Muelle Santa Cruz is located in Bahía Santa Cruz at the entrance to the Santa Cruz Marina. The town of Santa Cruz is one of the three communities that make up the resort area Bahías de Huatulco. Muelle Santa Cruz under construction in 2002. Playa Santa Cruz and the town of Santa Cruz are at left. Bahía Chahue is in the background at right. The dock is designed to handle cruise ships. Completion was delayed when the construction crane (visible in the photo above) sank, but the dock is now operational.
The dock has a capacity of 3000 passengers and can accommodate 2 vessels, maximum length 918', with another ship at anchor in the bay.
