Wow...this happened in June, not here, not in any way that threatens us -- and you enter this blog and post this right as tourists are making decisions where to come and reading local blogs. You are from a competing tourist location, right?
Last I saw they still had a dozen or so federal police held. The 2 americans were CIA or some such organization here training local marines. They are more interested in other things now. It comes up as a small piece every week just to remind us, but nothing more. Plus as Carol says it wasn't here, it was a long way away. I think that the US would not confirm for whom it's 2 citxens were working but international press had them pegged as CIA or CIA contrators. If it's the same incident, the US marine officer driving the US Consulate plated car was headed for a training session at a local marine base with the instructors. Upon attack, the driver managed to evade disaster and the operatives were taken to hospital and evacuated to the US shortly thereafter. At the time it was thought that some policeman may have been involved. there was a possiblity it was mistaken identity or crooked police. I lost track of the story 10 days or so ago but there was speculation that Uncle Sam might be anrgy. Guess not or the sabre rattlers are too busy trying to get elected.

The Central Intelligence Agency admit the two agents screwed up? SSP ambush on a dedicated road leading to a Marine training base? Ever end up on a road like that? Ever been pounced on by a couple dozen pissed-off soldiers? Yeah, they're going to let the SSP, and a bunch of sicarios set up an ambush. Right. Mexico will sooner sacrifice cops than hundred a hundred million dollars in law enforcement aid. The cops saw a car coming. A SUV with dark windows. It did not stop at the puesto de control. It accelerated away. The cops shot at it and discovered it was armored. Ya think maybe they were convinced it was full of sicarios? How many incidents have the military gone through against armored vehicles? The cops got to the stalled vehicle long before the military. Why oh why oh why oh why did the "crooked ambushing drug cartel corrupted cops" not kill the occupants? American taxpayers paid a hundred fifty thousand dollars for that car. We get silence and garden fertilizer in response to inquiry about why the CIA agents screwed up. Why were they whisked out of Mexico almost instantly? They didn't want to embarrass the CIA. Laurel & Hardy Meet Mexico Best guess: Nothing is going to be resolved. The spooks keep collecting their paychecks and the cops will eventually be released with no charges, for "lack of evidence".
