The bottom line on the Gulf tragedy is BPs man on the rig rushed the the head mechanic, the tool pusher and the driller to get out of the hole. He was being pressured by BP to move the rig elsewhere. BPs to blame 100% and should pay all expenses with will most likely lead to bankruptcy. As it should be. Next problem is how and when will it be stopped. And all the money in the world cant correct the ecological damage being done. Obama should be working on this day and night. This could make Katrina look small. This subject needs a thread and here it is.
This incident brings up memories of the worst oil spill disaster in history, caused by Mexico (via Pemex), that being Ixtoc 1. 300,000,000 barrels** of oil released over 10 months. Lasting legacy- 15,000 sq. km. of the Gulf of Mexico regarded as a poisoned dead zone. Interestingly, Mexico refused to pay Texas for the clean up costs for the 4000 metric tonnes of oil that washed up on it's beaches. Hope BP doesn't use incident this as a precedent. Edit **-My error.
