The proper left turn in Mexico

Recently, one of our clients was involved in an accident while making a left
turn. She put on her left signal and proceeded to turn. The driver behind her
started to pass on her left, which caused an accident. Our client was wrong
because on a two way road with shoulders (there need not be a lateral lane)
the legal procedure is to put on your left signal, then pull over to the right
shoulder and wait for traffic behind you to clear.
Then you may complete your left turn.

there is a ridiculous rule of thumb that if you turn on your left signal it indicates to the people behind you that it is safe to pass.... not that you are planning a left turn.......assinine!

I agree because sometime there is no room to pull over to the right.

The left signal should only mean on open highway when someone is obviously wanting to pass. Never in the middle of town or busy intersections. If I have any doubt what's going on behind me I'll straddle the center line with no oncoming
