Tenacatita palapas being BULLDOZED TODAY....

"Bulldozers are on the beach RIGHT NOW destroying palapas. They may leave the hotels so they have places to stay. No one is allowed access to the beach. I was asked by the people of El Rebalsito if anyone has a boat/panga and would be willing to go take pictures of what's happening, that would be extremely helpful. You can't land on the beach, but could get close enough to take photos. I'm in touch with a reporter who writes Mexico news for The Atlantic Monthly, The New Republic, and other publications. The media really wants pictures and the only way to get them is approaching by sea, so please, if anyone can help with this it would be much appreciated. You can post them here or post your email address and I'll get in touch with you. Thank you. "

Why not ask Tom to take some photos from the sky??? I don't understand the circumstances, and I don'dt think I want to, but if all we are reading is true, this is pretty hot and heavy. Oh well, Mexico's face is changing, I guess, and it won't do ANYBODY any good?

rompinggie - Tom and Nancy are in Japan on vacation right now - so Tom no can do! We have a nice camera like Howard, but no boat :-(, else we would have been out there taking photos....

Well, you might want to find another aircraft, and I wouldn't get within range of some low IQ'ed nit on the end of an AK 47 or any rifle, for that matter. It would be nice to actually see what has happened as opposed to reading reports here on the forum. Personally, I have absolutely no interest, other than I enjoyed many enjoyable afternoon snorkells and great food with my daughter, wife and great friends on the beach. This sort of behaviour is doing no one any good, and nothing but harm. Have they ever thought of sitting down and having a civilized chat? Or have they, and the discussion got to what we are reading? Whenever the fishing was slow we would have the Panga captain take us to Tenecacita to snorkel. Just get any of the Barra Panga Captains to run you over. By water it is a very short ride.

Hey Chub, I'll bet you a dollar to a donut hole, you won't find a willing Captain. If Tena truly is the hornets nest we are lead to believe, I sure as hell wouldn't poke the nose of my panga around the point. I have a hunch, you would not be dealing with people having a full deck, hence an airplane flying at about 2500 ft. and a dam good camera.

Ya, Ed, I know bullets can go in the air too, but at 2500' an AK-47 bullet wouldn't knock the skin off a rice pudding. It would sure be nice to know EXACTLY what is/was/has happened, instead of all these reports, flapping in the breeze. Photos don't lie, well not exactly, anyways.

An ak-47 has a kill range of 1500 meters. You feel the need to run your mouth and weigh in on everything. Better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.

According to this source it's 400 meters for the ak 47 and 610 meters on the M16

Effective range is 300-400 meters regarding accuracy etc. Killing range is 1500 meters.

Who gives a rat's arse how far and how much strength an AK-47 bullet retains it's strength. Horizontal is different than vertical, so let's all pack in this crap. Fact of the matter is, what is the truth about Tena??? The 3 cops in Manzanillo, Monday or Tuesday know how fast the bullets travel. So do the 2 guys on the highway outside Melaque about a month or so ago, oh, and I think the 4 brothers, father and uncle, probably know, too!
I think you folks have troubles down there, so relax and find some resolve. This kind of behaviour(Tena takeover) is not doing tourism any good. You ain't gonna get rich raising Avocados and Coconuts. Canadians and Americans DO talk, and my chums arn't going down this fall. Some of you may not care, but eventually, it could be a pretty bloody lonely coast???

BTW - Vern has a private pilots license - BUT - his recent medical procedure prohibits him from flying for a while (until I say it is OK - lol)....and a few other things - like water volley ball....and TANGO - somebody - post some tango pics, please...... so I can get my point across!

Life is good. Here in Mexico. Despite all the stuff that the NOB'ers (people that do NOT live here year around) worry about. Summertime. Hot. Humid. Drug Wars. Mordidas. Don't move here unless you are prepared to deal with this. We do. Every day (well - not really - BUT - every day is different....)
