People in the U.S. were forced to buy insurance or pay a penalty. I have some friends who just paid the penalty as it was much cheaper and the insurance was horrible. Deductibles very high and would only pay 60 or 70%. That requirement went away, so many now have dropped their useless insurance. But most people I know are very happy with their insurance and access to some of the best healthcare facilities anywhere.
