You can call it whatever you want but there will be no deal if Canada doesn't buy in.

Source: Financial Post, July 26, 2018

"Mexican and Canadian officials said Wednesday that talks on the North American Free Trade Agreement will remain a three-way negotiation, despite suggestions by U.S. President Donald Trump that he might pursue separate trade deals with both countries.

Mexican Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray says β€œCanada and Mexico not only share geography, history and friendship, but also principles and common goals, and we are a team and act as a team.”

Visiting Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland β€œCanada very much believes in NAFTA as a trilateral agreement.”

Exactly right Elke; nobody with any sense believes anything that comes out of the mouth of that pathetic orange man child.

If it came from Trump, it's a lie.

...... in the art of the deal it's, 'united we stand divided we fall'. ...well...Canada fell. Big Reason: Trudeau refuses to budge on dairy quotas.

Funny thing is for all the posturing, all this is meaningless to the average Canadian consumer. Does anyone think a pound of Wisconsin LakeLand butter would be but a penny cheaper in Canada than Canadian Lucerne? (both sold by Safeway in Canada or the USA) ...not in yours or my lifetime.

This is all about big money and the banks, and Trudeau is a dancing to their tune. Bet half of those mega-farm operations have loans and financing secured by the value of the quotas they hold. If the quota security suddenly disappears you wipe millions off the value of the farm holdings, along with the loan security so the banks will call the notes and loans...bankruptcy follows. For Sale: One dairy farm... cheap.

The quota system is a bogus system, a farmer who gets caught selling a quart of milk outside his quota can actually go to jail, and a few have come close. Too much milk, pour it down the drain or feed it to the pigs, you can't even give it away to the poor, but it's a system that's in place and unwinding it is all but impossible.

Nice to see the USA and Mexico come to an agreement that is beneficial to both countries.

JFTR Trudeau is asking the President Elect of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to help Canada make an agreement with the U.S to remain in NAFTA. As it stands Canada is excluded. Its sad Trudeau doesnt understand a trade agreement must be beneficial for both sides.

Well looks as if all three players have come to an agreement.

Yes it was. But President Trump arranged for Canada to reenter under certain conditions beneficial to Canada and the U.S.A. The U.S.A. is finished with the lopsided trade agreements that only favored other countries. Fairness and equality is a must. I wish the best for all 3 neighboring nations.
