djland, as to the stupid poll that says more than 50% don't like the Affordable Care Act you are absolutely correct that 20% or more dislike the law because it isn't liberal enough and I would bet big money that a huge huge majority of people who say they don't like the law don't even know what it does. These are the same people who say they want the government out of their Medicare. There are polls that say a majority of people who do not like the ACA like all the parts of it when it is broken down.

As to mezcalmarty, "Nothing the U.S. government has ever done was more cost effective or efficient then the private sector"??? I would say he has been played like a fiddle by the Right Wing propaganda machine called FOX News and CNN. The people and Republican Governors of Missouri and Oklahoma or wherever else who were hit by those tornadoes liked it when FEMA came in and said 'We are from the government and we are here to help'. The government runs Medicare with a 3% overhead. Before Obamacare, for profit market driven health insurance providers were taking 30% off the top for overhead. Social Security is a well run government program where 100,000,000(?) people would tell you to keep the private sector out of their retirement plan. How many people lost their 401K private sector pension savings because Wall Street destroyed the economy while everybody on Social Security didn't lose. "I'm here from Wall Street and I'm here to take care of your pension plan." Yeah, that's the ticket. And by the way, it was a private sector for profit company that screwed up the Affordable Care Act web site. Not the government.

As I said, I will be getting my Shingles shot as soon as I get back to California. The private sector here in Puerto doesn't seem to have the shots for sale.

Fox News , Fair and balanced. The beautiful and well educated ladies on the station are fantastic also. "sorry had to get that in there" I mean there's always the race -baiter Al Sharpton on MSNBC. Real stand up fella there. LOL.... Bottom line is costs will not go down and taxpayers will fall on the sword for the subsidies. Count on it. Wait until the cancelled policies start mounting in the millions. This is not the answer. Every small business owner I know is furious over this. What about the layoffs and people being offered part time work if they are lucky? What about the lack of doctors to provide all this care? They don't exist. There are enough entitlements in this country. Oblamas answer?? lets tax the hell out everyone and spread the wealth. That means you middle class. We need to sell insurance across state lines and make up more competition. This should be between Doctors and patients not the God Awful Washington bureaucracy. I for one do not feeling like waiting hours to see a doctor, Or months to see a specialist. This is EXACTLY where we are headed. And my families premiums are going off the rails. I hope we have enough sense to wake up to this national nightmare.

Marty, it has not been between the doctor and the patient for a long, long time. If you think that the insurance companies are benevolent, then you are a bigger fool that anyone would have believed. the insurance companies have always had their "death panels' , deciding who gets treatment, to what arbitrary lifetime maximum, and whether a pre-existing condition disqualifies you. In Texas, where no-bid contracts are awarded to campaign contributors, we have ample proof that the private sector does not do it cheaper nor better, The private firm awarded the huricane relief money after Ike cost FIVE TIMES what the state agencies had cost in previous storms. The private company hired to re-do the welfare rolls hustled through the contract money and split, forcing the state workers to be rehired to complete the job. But if you choose to believe FoxNoise FakeNews (We distort; You deride) then you are welcome to your delusions - but you don't get your own set of "facts".

You are a typical liberal. I assume Al Sharpton is your voice of reason??? This has nothing to do with hurricane relief. It is about our country being led to the slaughter due to the implication of Oblama care. Who is paying for it?? You perhaps? I cannot wait to watch this clusterf#$k collapse upon itself. Government does certain stuff well but this is not one of them. the oblama care act will cost and raise taxes by millions. it does nothing but hurt taxpayers and their families."including mine" I assume it will not affect yours??? Get a grip. Mock Fox news all you want I trust these well spoken women running the show over there than anyone in the lamestream media. Enjoy your fantasy.

Are you going to pay my higher premiums?? C'mon Liberal man of the people. you know it all. I assume you would have no issue covering my share of things right??? Isn't that what you guys do ??? Am I missing something???
Re: Shingles
December 13, 2013 09:32AM
ease off on the mezcal, marty, your insurance company(not Obama) may raise your premiums further based on your current condition...
Re: Shingles
December 13, 2013 11:21AM
None of this is true. I have several friends whose premium have been raised already due to the upcoming subsidies that need to be paid to cover the uninsured. What about the 5 million policies that were cancelled? Policies that people were perfectly happy with?? Some who have cancer and now are left without. but no that can't be true another right wing lie I guess. It is very sad how oblama and sebelius lie to the American people every day and the loyal liberal minions suck it up. oh and the mezcal dig??? is that all you got?? lol...
Re: Shingles
December 13, 2013 11:58AM
Marty you are about the most ignorant misinformed sucker I have seen (Ignorance is not bad it is only uninformed. Misinformed because what you are saying you were told and lied to. Sucker because you were easy to lie to because you are willing to believe what FOX News tells you.). I will just stick with one of your misinformed tales of woe. Nobody's premiums have gone up due to the upcoming subsidies that need to be paid to cover the uninsured. All the money for premiums go to insurance companies. Insurance companies are not paying subsidies. The government is not taking any money from premiums either. If you do not believe me please give me a link to where I can see that the government is taking money from premiums to pay for subsidies.

Many many policies were canceled that did not have to be canceled because of Obamacare. Insurance companies canceled them just like they have always canceled policies, Because they were not profitable anymore. Many many other policies were canceled because they were shitty policies. They didn't cover anything. It is like you cannot buy a car without rear view mirrors and seat belts. The government forced the automakers to put rear view mirrors on cars. And seat belts. It made cars more expensive but we got mirrors and seat belts.

Another thing I wonder about is if your premium ever went up before last year? Or this year I should say because there is one thing that you will never believe but it is true and that is that premiums have gone up for everybody over the years and for most people those premiums have gone up every year. Here is the part you will not want to believe; for a vast vast majority premiums that went up went up LESS than they would have before Obamacare. Again, you will not believe it but who cares. Obamacare is here to stay.
Re: Shingles
December 13, 2013 08:03PM
Again what about the people that were happy with their so-called shitty policies? Who is it for the government to decide?? How about the cancer patient who lost his policy and then tried to obtain insurance through your saviors exchanges? and guess what?? Could not get in!!! How about your political pundits on MSNBC like Bashir who wanted to defacate in Sarah Palin's mouth?? Real class act. and you call out FOX news?? again any answer for these cancelled policies people were happy with??? I thought so. How's the Kool aid??.LOL.... Do you honestly believe your own liberal bull$$it???

Who pays for this god awful mess??? wait for it... wait for it.... TAXPAYERS. If I ran my company like oblama ran this country I would be bankrupted sure as heck. Money has value. you cannot tax people into prosperity. do some research. Why do people who work for a living defend this clown??
Re: Shingles

How do you know it was a shitty policy?? So now the cancer patient is a fool?? you are a disgusting individual. Typical liberal Party of tolerance until you prove them wrong. Should we get into Benghazi?? or was that the republicans fault also.

Puerto Bill Wrote What happens to the fool who wants his shitty policy? Just like the fool who didn't want seat belts and rear view mirrors. Shit out of luck.

There is a big difference between the OblamaCare forced robbery extortion plan and rear view mirrors on cars. I do not want to pay for your health care and I sure don't expect you to pay for mine.

Re: Shingles

I am a disgusting individual? Because I think it is a good thing that people are getting insurance that they can afford? And you are saying that your guy likes his shitty insurance. Marty now you are being WILLFULLY ignorant. That is like saying "Hey, my guy didn't want rear view mirrors and seat belts. He won't ever use them. Or hooks tat hey put in the back seats of cars so that people can safely put baby seats in the car. The policies were shitty. People were paying a money for something that was not doing what they thought it was going to do. Have you even tried to do any research into what kind of policies that were determined to be shitty that insurance companies can't sell anymore? If you would spend the amount of time you have spent here showing how willfully ignorant you are, if you would spend that time with Google you might educate yourself. Here is one little example from no less than Fox News. Something else that might help you but probably won't because you would rather keep your head in the sand.

Re: Shingles

Do yo mean cancer patient Bill Elliott, who told Fox News that he was going to choose to forego cancer treatment and "let nature take its course" rather than pay for the $1,500 per month plan his "insurance guy" offered to him under Obamacare. Another Obama voter, too! But … in in his state, South Carolina, the most expensive plan on the market for someone over 50 (a guesstimate by one fact-checker) is $768 a month. If Elliott is five years younger, it's just $440. He also said his "guy" told him that the $1,500 per month plan wouldn't pay for pharmaceuticals or medical devices – something even the most ardent Obamacare critic must realize is illegal under that law. That's one of the things they don't like about it! Perhaps the real conclusion here is that Elliott needs to fire "his guy".

Still, $440 is a lot more than the $170 per month he said he had been paying. So conservatives celebrated when it turned out a local attorney was able to find a sympathetic ear (Tea Party fav South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley) for the argument that Elliot's original insurer was breaking a law older than Obamacare – HIPAA – by cancelling his insurance. The funny thing is that the 1990s law that seems to have allowed Elliott to get his coverage back is the kind of must-cover mandate they also don't like about the ACA.

The mechanisms Elliott's lawyer, Steven Tucker, says he's using are sketchy-sounding? His argument sounds a lot like "one weird trick" ads, what with his repeated mention of "Using public law 104-191 section 2742" and frequent urging of others to do the same. But I'm glad Elliot is going to fight the good fight against cancer.

What happens when all the people covered under employees are dumped next year? not going to happen huh? What happened to 'if you like your insurance you can keep it period.' If you like your doctor you can keep him period' ? Bill I do apologize for calling you a disgusting individual, Hell I don't even know you. Just very frustrated watching this country adopt socialist medicine. But there is no way on gods green earth that this clusterf$$k saves taxpayers money. With all due respect to my Canadian friends, I know the majority of them love their health care. But it is a different animal we are dealing with here. We have a hell of a lot more people and no new doctors who want anything to do with this. Hell ask any MD how much they like dealing with Medicaid patients. People need to be accountable for their own actions and support their own families. Sorry buddy I should not have to pay for my neighbors health care. We already are spending enough taxpayer money on welfare, and food stamps. Where does it end?? Scary times indeed... Barack oblama -"the food stamp president" quite the legacy. throw money at it and it shall disappear. He sure as f$$k will not go down as the job creator president. I have said to my liberal friends prove me wrong I will be happier. Kinda ironic huh? That way I will look like a fool and have more pesos in my pocket. Sadly though I don't see it. we are all going to pay for this mess. This douche of a POTUS claims to be a man of the people yet loves hobnobbing with the Hollywood elite for their fundraising again irony.. Oh one last thing what first lady ever said "I was never proud to be an American until now" wait for it.... That would be moochelle oblama. when her husband was elected. classy right??? thought so. carry on.

Re: Shingles

Excuse me, but since when is getting your health care from the Emergency Room cheaper than preventive heath care? And the ER is where the uninsured go. There is enough humanitarianism left that ER's can't just "let 'em die." Juries don't like that. And you don't think current insurance rates are driven up by unpaid ER bills? Note that the rest of the civilized world has single payer systems, with Switzerland letting private insurers "wet their beak." Wonder what bribes that had to pay for that! Note that the United States is THIRTY-SEVENTH, that's 37th, in health care outcomes. Not first. Not tenth. Not 25th. THIRTY-SEVENTH! And you can bet that the other 36 all have universal health care. But go back to the pretty puppets parroting Roger Ailes' unmistakable screed of distortion - Fox News. And if you think that any of those mouthpieces you praise have anything to do with policy or editorial content, let's talk about the ocean front land in Oklahoma I want to sell you.

What masquerades as news is as odd as it gets. But perhaps it not news at all but opinion pretending to be fact. The things they get worked up about leaves me shaking my head, and yet folks eat it up. Now that's scary.
Re: Shingles

It's in their slogan: "FoxNoise FakeNews: We distort; you deride". As to why fear? those who watch often believe the bullcrap. "Obama is Muslim." "Obama was born in Kenya." "Obama is a Socialist" (we who are can only dream. He is Cenrist at best). "Obama is Marxist" (invariably said by those who know absolutely nothing about Marx nor the Hegelian Dialectic). "Same sex marriage will ruin the institution" (Why? Is public aprobation the only reason you don't hit on people of your own gender?) "Tax cuts create jobs" (Effective corporate tax rates are at historic lows. Where are the jobs?) What is not to fear that can convince so many Americans of absolute lies?
Re: Shingles

Criminal fraud is criminal fraud. Supplying weapons to cartels is not legal. Supplying al quieda with more money so they can gain strength is not in americas best interest. There are other more important issues, healthcare is a smokescreen.
Re: Shingles
December 19, 2013 10:28AM
Its sad how millions of americans can be manipulated and taken advantage of so easily. Thats why the people controlling, will keep on controlling. And the rest of us will be kept broke, and without a chance to gain family wealth, strong family wealth, ever again. They own you and me, and they arent about to give any of us a chance to become what we could become.

Any valuable education is out of our reach. And shall be kept there.

Same with healthcare.

What they offer is a controlled and very limited, replacement of the real thing. Real CARE, for ALL, is not being offered.

Each and every american is being used, abused, and fed garbage everyday of their lives. And we, ( as the poorest of the poor ) are happy and content, without the will to rebel effectively.

The arguing of details is absurd, when the overall game cant be won. Until effective rebel tactics are designed, organized and implemented, we can all just get some more sun.
