Brownsville to Georgetown 2009

Weather and Flight Plan

The weather is calling for scattered to broken clouds along the route. An IFR route is much longer than a direct VFR route so I elect to fly VFR. A southerly flow gives us a tailwind.

The Flight

We fly above a scattered layer of clouds until 50 miles south of Austin where the clouds thicken and I drop below. I contacted Austin Approach and we fly across the eastern edge of their airspace. It is hazy and I don't take any photos.

On the Ground at Georgetown

On landing at Georgetown, I refuel the airplane and put it back in the hanger. We have flown a total of 17 hours on the trip, 15 hours to fly to Puerto Escondido and back and 2 hours for photographing beaches.

As we drive away from the airport I look over at Ringdale, Inc. where I work. It is late on a Saturday but the lights are on in the machine shop. A crew is working overtime building LED lighting fixtures. The fixtures use a power supply that I designed. I am thankful we have found a way to stay busy during this economic recession.
