- Saturday, July 12, 2014: The Rabbit Hill Cantina is located just south of Georgetown, TX, on FM1460. It is an outdoor music venue that features Cowboy and Country music acts about once a month during the warm months. The gate opens at 6:00 pm, music from 7:00 to 10:00 pm. An open mic period follows. Admission is by donation. Excellent barbeque is available by donation including pulled pork (my favorite), briskit, and sausage. Free popcorn.
Tonight we had a full moon and it was a supermoon so was a little brighter than usual. Danny Britt and Marvin Dykhuis were the featured artists and played from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. Tom played a few songs at the open mic. Sam had to leave early so didn't play this time. The bar-b-que was delicious as always and included jerk chicken this time.
Friends of Tom who were there included John W, Richard, Beth, Patricia and David, Dee, and Paula and family.
The songs Tom played:
- De Música Ligera, by Gustavo Cerati (just a little bit for sound check)
- Under the Milky Way, by Steven Kilbey, Karin Jansson
- Never Say Goodbye, by Tom Penick
- Lovesong, recorded by the Cure and by 311
- What's in a Name, by Tom Penick
- Take on Me, by A-ha
- Don't Dream It's Over, by Crowded House
- Hallelujah, by Leonard Cohen
- Temptation Eyes, by Harvey Price, Dan Walsh (Grass Roots)
- On My Island, by Tom Penick
- Shape of Things To Come, by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil (from the movie Wild In the Streets)
