This song was written mid 1970s by Tom Penick. It was the theme song for the band, Innerphase. We considered naming this band Innerphase but the name is currently being used by another band. It is a fantasy song and it is to be interpreted, not explained. We follow this song with On My Island, another fantasy song by Tom Penick. Innerphase ends with a guitar solo and On My Island begins with a guitar solo. Both solos use a different chord progression than the song to which they belong, so it is not so obvious where one song stops and the other one begins. Both solos together run three and a half minutes. Running two songs together comes from past experiences in bands where there seemed to be too much time spent in between songs so to combat this problem we practiced and performed them in pairs with no stopping between.
It's so very strange
'Cause its inside out and we're outside lookin' in
I feel so amazed I just don't believe it
What the world looks like when you're lost in the Innerphase
We've been left
We've been right
We've been moving along in a desperate way
Don't look back
It's no good
Destiny on the road is the way it will be
For the Innerphase
It's so very strange
'Cause its inside out and we're outside lookin' in
I feel so amazed I just don't believe it
What the world looks like when you're lost in the Innerphase
Solo (long) followed by On My Island
