TELZ4, I was referring to the US/Canada border, not the US/Mexico. Big difference, you must have missed my first response to your post Of course you can get across the US/Canada if you want. The problem is place one foot in the US and you have to quarantine for 2 weeks. They will also prevent you from driving south, unless you are a US citizen or can prove essential travel, so you have to flyby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
you cant. they are in talks to reopen it right now. It could happen Jun 20th or July 20th. That would still be earlier than a lot of people are scheduled for their second dose. If a quarantine is still mandated, then it would not be worth it. My niece just flew to Hawaii for a month and will be getting both doses there, but she had to go for a court case anyway (she was seriously injured by aby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
i suspect this will happen a lot if the uS/Canada border re-opens for second shots. I live 3 km from the border. I would. I remember the reverse happening a few years back with flu shots.by por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
BTW I don;t agree with mort on everything, but his opinion is just as valuable as anyone else's. However, IMO, his statement about it decreasing in Mexico is a dangerous assumption when we see what happened in India in just 2 weeks. I see Yucatan just went orange again for eg. I don't think anyone can breathe easy until vaccination rates are around 70% I do think vaccine passports arby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
Hard to say how bad things really are in Mexico as testing is not as widespread. The Indian variant is in Canada which means it is probably everywhere in North America. 5000 people entering Canada since the hotel quarantine started have tested positive. The fact of the matter is as long as people move around the planet, so will variants. It is straight science. The sensible thing from a scientifiby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
You can now be stopped by the police in Ontario if you leave your house and asked why you are out there. Borders with Quebec and Manitoba are being closed, Bad in BC but only just over 1000 new infections today and 6 deaths. BC has 5 million people. Washington state next door has 7 million and had over 2000 new infections and 18 deaths, which makes it far worse per capita. Arizona with the same pby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum

BTW, I suspect that 4 month gap in Canada will get significantly reduced by June or Julyby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
yeah one shot gives you almost as much protection as 2 from what I have read. I think most people are happy just to feel assured they won't end up in hospital or die of it. The big question is will the US allow people across the border with only one shot, once it re-opens. I expect to get a second one before September, but I really want to drive down in Fall, if I can. The Canadian government privatized our vaccine producing companies during the Reagan/Mulroney years. Those companies then moved offshore or were sold off to foreign companies, leaving us with no capacity to produce our own vaccines. Huge mistake and it accounts for Canada being behind. The government is now scrambling to re-establish that capacity but it wont help this time, but hopefully we wonby por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
They are now down to 1949'ers in BC, I get my Pfizer or Moderna shot next week. Oddly enough my Mexican partner who is 10 years younger got the Pfizer in Santa Ana, Sonora 3 weeks ago. my brother in Law in Bucerias is refusing the Sinovac. He is 65 and is thinking of flying back to BC, once the arrival restrictions are eased.by por telcoman - Off-Topic Forum
Well, that is the way it usually works with superpowers throughout history, but in teh defense of the US, it is probably the most benevolent superpower/empire that has ever exited. It has not always behaved well, but its positively wonderful when you compare it to those in the past, including the British Empire.
