Having moved here from Mazatlan, we were used to running the a/c at least at night during the summer months & we had the other usual electronics, including 2 fridges. We were also lucky enough to be in a zone (Sinaloa) that CFE subsidized during the hot/humid summer months. The house we are renting in Comala was vacant for a while, so the CFE usage was minimal and it has no ceiling fans, noby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
We've by that same place many times - guess we'll have to stop in! Have you any idea if Rosa & Miguel are around -we live just around the corner from them but haven't seen the sign out in a looong time & wondered if they had gone back north?by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
What a great list!!! I can never seem to get close enough, even with our binoculars to figure out what the bird is.....there are so many that are similar in size & color......I've figured out the flock of chacalacas, hummingbirds, etc. & we do have the same book you referenced. Good job!by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Yesterday a friend and I went to breakfast at La Terricta in Comala, which was excellent. Go up Hidalgo to Guadalupe Victoria - 2 blocks n. of the church - turn right, go down the street & you have to turn left. The restaurant is on your left & the arroyo is the right. Plenty of parking. Very good food - I had the chiliquiles with chicken, bean & coffe & it came to $45 mx.by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Jeff & Lisa, Where will you be 45 min N of Colima? That's a long way to commute to look for a rental, which really shouldn't be a problem to find in Colima, or do you plan on having 2 places? We used to stay at Jupiter & Mara's B&B before we rented our place in Comala (very hard to find).....in fact we spent 73 days there in 2009! Love them to pieces!! We too have eaten at La Piedra a couple of times....pretty good. We find the Ceballos only adequate for food but do enjoy having an "adult" beverage there & doing some people watching. My husband really likes El Charco de Higuera near Ah Que Nanish, which I like too. Aroma is our go to place for fine dining & incredible service. La Cumparsita is also excellent food & serby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Do you live in Colima or just visit? We have been to all of those a number of times & agree with you about them. We have not done the Festival of Guadalupe.........is that in Colima as well? We also enjoy Mentadas.....Napoli.....La Cumparsita....Bella Paese....Aroma.....all in Colima and are always looking for new dining experiences. We also like El Fogon in Comala but they close at 2by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala

We went to the concert & certainly got waaaay more than the price of $20 admission!! What an incredibly talented young man & we were lucky enough to be treated to some extra music as Felipe was joined by a local maestro and another talented young man on the violin & all 3 played some Huapango pieces. Just beautiful........ He will also be performing tomorrow, Sun., in the jardin thby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Please see attached file for program at the ex-Hacienda Nogueras for a wonderful violin concert by a young man from Mexico City. Sat 23 Apr 1 pm ....$20 mx in the "Red Room"by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
You might be thinking of El Pueblito on Benito Juarez.......now closed. The steps went down several seating areas to a huge deck & playgrounds. It was picturesque but service never seemed to be their strong suite! The French restaurant has now moved to Hidalgo, just 2 blocks north of the church. Nice setting, sure hope the food & service will be as good as the other location. Shouldby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
I use: La Casa del Pintor Dr. Miguel Galindo #129, Centro 312 0629 Pretty decent stock.....but a lot of their paints are student grade. Buena suerte!by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
We have some old cassette tapes that we would like to have converted to CDs. Does anyone know of this type of service in Colima city? Thanks!by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Yesterday we had occasion to use for the second time, a tapiceria in Villa de Alvarez called La Campana. This time he took out the caning of the seats of our dining room chairs & repaired them with webbing and they "sit" much better now. He had previously repaired an antique chair seat for us and did beautiful work. It is called La Campana - no sign that I could see..... Addreby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
You might look into the Casa Alavarada.....it's owner is a regular poster on this forum. We stayed there whenever we would come down for a few days & stayed 73 days total with them last year! They are wonderful people!!!! Wherever you end up, you will like Comala,by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Here is a link which will let you follow upcoming events as planned by the Sec. of Culture......... For local stuff, I depend on my neighbors to alert us. Where are you staying when you are in town? More than likely, the hosts will know what's going to be happening as well. Be sure to eat botanas at the portales and the wonderful pizza at AdoBe on Hidalgo. Tell them Guille sby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
For those new to the area like us, this coming Fri., the 3rd of Dec.....will be a HUGE cabalgata/horse parade here in Comala. It will start about 8 pm & last until ????. We have been told by the neighbors to expect a lot of noise, drinking and festivities and many, many horses. Today's parade had a lot of horses in it too. We are both former "horse people" and believe me, sby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala

Earlier this week I saw a report on the news about the volcano was quite active and they thought there might be an eruption soon. I haven't seen anything in the paper or in the various forums about this. Does anyone else have more current info available, Since we live in Comala, we would like to follow activity there. We have purchased several pieces from Sr. Rios, who is a very charming gentleman and his prices are quite reasonable, considering how much work goes into a piece. We were introduced to him by Jupiter on one of his tours - which are always most informational and the material he shares in NOT made up...it is the truth. We also went to Banamex in downtown Colima and adquired the book of artisans tby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
I'll try to write it down the next time I go "up the hill".by Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
Last night my husband, myself and a friend went to a new "French" restaurant in Comala, up the hill and just off of Hidalgo. You turn left at the sports field, about mid-field - the house on the corner is a white textured concrete, overlaid with brown but you may not be able to see it in the dark, as they do not open until 8 pm. He does put a sign at the corner and it is about 50 mtsby Willie Bodrak - Colima - Comala
