AIRPORT

The old airport 17XS, located at the resort, which once made this destination so attractive to flyers has long ago closed. The new airport 89TE is located 4.2 miles east of town and is available by prior arrangement. The remoteness of the airport from the resort keeps aviation traffic from disturbing the guests but it keeps fly-in visitors from being able to walk out to their planes the way drivers can walk out to their cars. The neighbors of the remotely-located airport, are not so happy with their exposure to airplane noise.
It is allowable now for transient airplane traffic to stop in at the airport and get a meal at the resort restaurant. This requires prior notification of the resort, 1-877-LAJITAS. Transporation between the airport and resort is provided.
