History

Before Huatulco was an upscale developed resort, it was a sleepy coastal village. After the Mexican government decided to develop the area, they began the process of acquiring the land from the numerous owners. The value was assessed, the owners were paid, and their property taken. This uprooting was so traumatic that most owners moved away and could not bear to return to the scene.

There was, however, one owner who fought back and managed to retain his property despite some fancy maneuvering by the government. And so now, nestled in the most upscale hotel zone and adjacent to the Campo de Golf and the Playa Tangolunda is the Huatulco Trailer Park. Accessed by a dirt road adjacent to the posh entrance to the Quinta Real, the Huatulco Trailer Park exists as a thorn in the side of its high-rolling neighbors.

Description

Huatulco Trailer Park is conveniently located on Playa Tangolunda between the Hotel Quinta Real and the golf course in the upscale Tangolunda area. Ample, shaded parking beneath towering coconut palms welcomes both giant RVs and popup campers alike. Campers are charged 50 pesos per day per person.

Amenities

Huatulco Trailer Park is just steps away from the famed Playa Tangolunda, the same beach everyone else is paying $200 a night to stay on. Hike up the hill to Quinta Real's romantic hilltop restaurant for one of the finest dining experiences in the resort area.

Hidden away at the end of a dead-end dirt road, the location is quiet and devoid of traffic. Showers and restrooms are located adjacent to the parking area.

Step across the fence and you are on the Huatulco Campo de Golf, some of the most beautifully landscaped real estate in Huatulco. This is the remote section of the course that terminates at the beach. You can play a quick hole of golf and be back in your trailer enjoying a cold drink before anyone can get down there to run you off.
