The wood stork is a large bird with a wingspan of 140-148 cm (58-71 inches). Their diet consists of fish, large insects, and frogs. They live in wetland areas and breeding is triggered by lowering water levels that concentrate fish populations. We saw these at Laguna Manialtepec near Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, where the wood storks were abundant. |
